b'Cycling inBetws-y-Coed and surrounding areaThe area surrounding Betws-y-Coed is a great place to explore by bike, whether you are looking for some challenging long distance road rides or equally challenging off road rides the area has much to offer.Single track mountain biking in the UK originated in north Wales. Two of the first UK mountain bike trails were in the Gwydir Forest (Marin Trail) and Coed Y Brenin (Red Bull Trail). Now the red graded Gwydir Mawr and Bach (Marin Trail) and the Penmachno trails attract MTB riders worldwide. The area is also a great base for riding the downhill trails of Antur Stiniog. The Hiraethog trail offers a cross country circular route taking in Betws-y-Coed and Llyn Brenig and Alwen, Pentrefoelas and Ysbty Ifan. Further afield Lon Las Ogwen offers family friendly riding on quite lanes and disused railway lines from Llyn Ogwen to Porth Penrhyn in Bangor. 22'
